Gene expression
The activation of a gene that results in transcription and the production of mRNA is called gene expression.
During gene expression a part of the genome is used at a time only when the cell needs it. this process is divided into two steps: Transcription in which RNA polymerase transcribes a portion of DNA into mRNA, and translation in which this mRNA migrates to a ribosome where it is translated into a specific protein.
